Beside his shaking statement “sufi is not created”, Abu al-Hasan Kharaqani is also famous for saying “I am less than my Lord by two things or two years” in sufi literature. In this article I will first adress the attribution and authenticity of this statement to Harakānî. On the basis of related sufi literature I am going to analyze how the aforementioned statement was perceived and interpreted by later sufi authors such as Ayn al-Qudât Hamadani, Fakhruddin Iraqi and Ala al-Dawla Simnani and in what kind of contexts it was quoted by them.
