Manuscript Review Process

Manuscript Review Policy: Double-Blind Review Process

In order for manuscripts submitted to the International Journal of Theological and Islamic Studies (Marmara Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesi Dergisi) to be reviewd, they must not have been previously published or submitted to another journal for publication. Additionally, manuscripts with multiple authors must be approved by each author.
The manuscript review process consists of the following stages: preliminary review, pre-evaluation, refereeing, revision, and publication.
The preliminary review stage consists of plagiarism scanning and a review of manuscript formatting and the bibliography. Scans made with iThenticate or Turnitin software should show a similarity rate of less than 30%, depending on the type of article. Manuscripts exceeding this rate will be returned to the author. Manuscripts that pass plagiarism scanning in the preliminary review process may be subject to further plagiarism scans by the editors in following stages.

The pre-evaluation is carried out by the editorial board or an internal referee selected from among the journal’s board members. A detailed report is not submitted for manuscripts that are rejected or returned as a result of the pre-evaluation. Manuscripts that pass the pre-evaluation move on to the peer-review process. At this stage, the manuscript is sent to two referees, although the number of referees may be increased based on the revision requests and decisions of the referees. All review processes are conducted in accordance with the principle of double-blind peer review.
The revision process involves fulfilling the revision requests from the referees by the author or justifying the revision requests that are not deemed appropriate by the author. In the post-revision process, the final decision regarding the publication of the manuscript belongs to the editorial board of the journal.

The publication process involves language checks, proofreading, and layout of the manuscripts accepted for publication.

When the publication date of the journal arrives, manuscripts whose refereeing or editorial review processes have not been completed will be considered for the next issue.
