With the defeat in World War I, Hitler understands the importance of propaganda and starts to use propaganda as a method in mass communication. The perception management practices carried out under the opinion leadership of Goebbels were intensely applied on the masses both before and after Hitler came to power. Although many studies have examined the era of Nazi Germany, studies showing the technique of propaganda practices are rare. From this point of view, this study reveals the propaganda practices used in Nazi Germany through the techniques of the Propaganda Analysis Institute (1938) and Shabo’s (2008) and shows how they are used for perception management. Firstly, the study clarifies the propaganda techniques conceptually and then includes the applications of these techniques in Nazi Germany. The study indicates that propaganda techniques are used as a tool of perception management.
