THERMOELASTIC RESPONSE OF A LONG TUBE SUBJECTED TO PERIODIC HEATING

Abstract

Thermoelastic behavior of a long tube subjected to periodic heating is investigated analytically. The temperature distribution in the tube undera periodic boundary condition is obtained by the solution of the heat conduction equation and the application of Duhamel’s theorem afterwards. Based onplane strain condition, the thermoelastic solution of the tube is derived. Thisarticle outlines the complete solution procedure and presents some importantresults of relevance to engineering

Keywords

Heat conduction, Duhamel’s theorem, Thermoelasticity
