Analysis of the Relationship Between “Experience and Trust” in the Film “The Intern” within the Framework of Freudian and Persuasive Communication Approaches

Abstract

Trust and experience are two fundamental elements that form the basis of interpersonal relationships and effective communication, shaping individuals' decision-making processes and social dynamics. These two concepts create a powerful synergy, particularly in the context of persuasive communication. Trust prepares the psychological groundwork for the communication process, while experience enhances the validity and quality of the messages built upon this foundation. This study examines the role of trust and experience in the persuasion process within the framework of psychoanalytic theories, using Nancy Meyers' film The Intern (2015) as a case study. The analysis thoroughly evaluates the motivational dynamics underlying the characters' behaviors, the transformation of experience into a form of wisdom, and how trust is constructed as a means of persuasion. The analysis concludes that the concepts of experience and trust in the film are fundamental assets with the potential to resolve organizational crises and fill leadership gaps, beyond being merely individual virtues. The film reveals that these two elements are the most effective solution mechanisms in the face of the challenges posed by the modern business world and complex human relationships.

'Stajyer' Filminin Freudyen ve İkna Edici İletişim Yaklaşımları Çerçevesinde 'Tecrübe ve Güven' İlişkisinin Analizi

Abstract

Güven ve tecrübe, kişilerarası ilişkilerin ve etkili iletişimin temelini oluşturan, bireylerin karar alma süreçlerini ve sosyal dinamiklerini şekillendiren iki temel unsurdur. Bu iki kavram, özellikle ikna edici iletişim bağlamında sinerjik bir etki yaratarak güçlü bir birliktelik oluşturur. Güven, iletişim sürecinde psikolojik bir zemin hazırlarken; tecrübe, bu zemin üzerinde inşa edilen mesajların geçerliliğini ve niteliğini artırır. Bu çalışma, Nancy Meyers’in yönettiği Stajyer (The Intern, 2015) filmini bir vaka analizi olarak ele alarak, psikanalitik kuramlar çerçevesinde güven ve tecrübenin ikna sürecindeki rolünü incelemektedir. Analiz kapsamında, karakterlerin davranışlarının altında yatan motivasyonel dinamikler, tecrübenin bir bilgelik formuna dönüşümü ve güvenin bir ikna aracı olarak nasıl inşa edildiği derinlemesine değerlendirilmektedir. Analiz sonucunda, filmdeki tecrübe ve güven olgularının, yalnızca bireysel birer erdem olmanın ötesinde, organizasyonel düzeydeki krizleri çözme ve liderlik boşluklarını doldurma potansiyeline sahip temel sermayeler olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Film, bu iki unsurun, modern iş dünyasının ve karmaşık insan ilişkilerinin getirdiği zorluklar karşısında en etkili çözüm mekanizmaları olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır.
