Abstract

In the study, the current situation of the aquaculture sector of Sinop Province was evaluated In addition to examining the production quantities of Sinop Province between 2019 and 2023, it was aimed to create healthy predictions about the future of the sector. As of the end of 2023, there were 389 fishing vessels, 2,597 fishermen, 10 aquatic products cooperatives, 416 cooperative members, 5 fishing harbors, 10 fishing landing points, 30,933.5 tons of aquaculture production, approximately 26,822.7 tons of aquaculture production, including 126.66 tons from inland waters, 5 fish meal and oil factories, and 14 seafood processing and evaluation facilities. In Sinop province, which holds an important place in Turkey’s aquatic products production, projections for the future indicate that aquaculture production will increase 4.93 times by 2040 compared to 2023, while fishing production is expected to increase 2.83 times during the same period.
