Abstract Job Satisfaction of Midwives Working in The Boundaries of Mersin Municipality Objective: This study was carried out as a descriptive study aiming to determine the level and the factors influencing job satisfaction of midwives working within the boundaries of Mersin Municipality. Method: The data presented in this study were of a master of science degree thesis with the same title. The universe of the study was composed of totally 531 midwives working within the boundaries of Mersin Municipality whereas the sample was 50% of the study universe. The sampling was carried out employing the stratified method. The data were collected using a questionnaire including the questions about the socio-demographic characteristics of midwives and “Nursing Job Satisfaction Scale”. The collected data were evaluated using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) for Windows 11.5. Percentile distribution, Kruskall-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U, Dunn tests were used to analyze the data. Results: It was found that 168 (%57.7) of the midwives participated in the study were in the age range of 30-39 years. 114 (%39.2) of them were vacation school graduates with associate degree. 207 (%71.1) of the midwives were working in village clinics. The mean value of the job satisfaction level of the midwives was found as 49.0±15.0, indicating the low satisfaction in job. Conclusion: Based on the data, it was concluded that the midwives don\'t have job satisfaction. On the other hand, improving their wage and working conditions, equal benefiting from the opportunities for development and advancement seems to gain importance.
Türkçe Özet: Amaç: Bu araştırma, Mersin Büyükşehir Belediye sınırları içinde çalışan ebelerin iş doyum düzeylerini ve etkileyen faktörleri belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Yöntem: Araştırmanın verileri, Mersin Büyükşehir Belediye Sınırları İçinde Çalışan Ebelerin Mesleki Doyumu başlıklı yüksek lisans tezinden alınmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini, Mersin Büyükşehir Belediye sınırları içinde çalışan 531 ebe, örneklemini ise evrenin %50\'si oluşturmuştur ve tabakalama örnekleme yöntemi ile belirlenmiştir. Araştırma tanımlayıcı niteliktedir. Veriler, ebelerin sosyo-demografik özelliklerinin sorulduğu anket formu ve “Hemşirelik İş Doyum Ölçeği” kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler, SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) Windows 11.5 paket programı kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Verilerin özetlenmesinde, yüzdelik dağılım değişkenlerin karşılaştırılmasında Kruskall-Wallis, Mann-Whitney U ve Dunn testleri kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırma kapsamına alınan ebelerin 168\'inin (%57.7) 30-39 yaş grubu arasında, 114\'ünün (%39.2) Açık Öğretim Fakültesi önlisans mezunu ve 207\'sinin (%71.1) sağlık ocağında çalışmakta olduğu saptanmıştır. Tüm ebelerin genel iş doyum puan ortalaması 49.0±15.0 olarak saptanmıştır. Bu puan işten alınan doyumun düşük olduğunu ifade etmektedir. Sonuç: Bu bilgilerin ışığında ebelerin işlerinden doyum sağlamadıkları sonucuna varılmıştır. Ayrıca ücret ve yükselme olanaklarının, ebelerin iş doyumu üzerinde etkili olduğu görülmüştür.

MEU Journal of Health Sciences Assoc was began to the publishing process in 2008 under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Gönül Aslan, Editor-in-Chief, and affiliated to Mersin University Institute of Health Sciences. In March 2015, Prof. Dr. Caferi Tayyar Şaşmaz undertook the Editor-in Chief position and since then he has been in charge.
Publishing in three issues per year (April - August - December), it is a multisectoral refereed scientific journal. In addition to research articles, scientific articles such as reviews, case reports and letters to the editor are published in the journal. Our journal, which has been published via e-mail since its inception, has been published both online and in print. Following the Participation Agreement signed with TÜBİTAK-ULAKBİM Dergi Park in April 2015, it has started to accept and evaluate online publications.
