AbstractIsolation of Fusarium oxysporum from Corneal Abcess: A Case Report Fungal infections of the cornea can be caused by yeast (Candida spp.) and filamentous fungi (molds); including Aspergillus spp., Fusarium spp., and Alternaria spp. Fusarium keratitis may cause progressive corneal damage and endophthalmitis with a result in loss of the eye and vision. Increased occurrence of fungal keratitis is due to the frequent use of topical corticosteroids and antibiotics, corneal diseases, ocular surface diseases, contact lens wearer, minör trauma, the patients with immunocompromised and diabetes mellitus. In this paper, it was aimed to report a case of Fusarium oxysporum keratitis with a diagnosis of bilateral ectropion and trichiasis. Fusarium keratitis is precious with being reported second time in our province, located in subtropical climate zone, Mersin where mostly agriculture and animal husbandry farmers live.
