Abstract Presence of Aeromonas hydrophila in Trout Served for Human Consumption and Determination of Antibacterial Susceptibility of the Isolates Aim: Aeromonas spp., which are members of aquatic environments, are found in drinking water, seafoods and various animal food products. These strains show zoonotic characteristics and can cause infection in humans. In recent years Aeromonas hydrophila was reported as an important foodborne pathogen. The aim of this study was to investigate the presence of A. hydrophila in fish intended for human consumption and antibiotic susceptibility of these strains. Method: In the present study, one hundred marketed Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) from Kayseri, Erzurum and Samsun were evaluated for the presence of A. hydrophila with conventional microbiological methods. Antibacterial susceptibilities of A. hydrophila isolates were determined by Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method. The Unweighted Pair Group Method with Arithmetic Averages (UPGMA) was performed for antibiotyping of isolates. Results: A total of 28 (28%) A. hydrophila were isolated from fish meat samples. According to the antibiogram results, it was found that 17 (60.7%), 15 (53.5%), 13 (46.4%), 12 (42.8%) 9 (32.1%), 8 (34.7%), 3 (10.7%) of all isolates were found resistant to nalidixic acid, oxytetracycline, flumequin, amoxicillin, oxolinic acid, erythromycin, neomycin respectively whereas all of the isolates were determined susceptible to florphenicol. As a result of antibiotyping, it was determined that isolates were dispersed in 17 different groups. Conclusions: It has been considered that the presence of A. hydrophila in raw fish intended for human consumption may pose a potential hazard to public health.

A. hydrophila izolatlarının antibakteriyel duyarlılık profilleri Kirby-Bauer disk difüzyon yöntemi ile araştırılmıştır. İzolatlara Unweighted Pair Group Method with Arithmetic Averages (UPGMA) metodu kullanılarak antibiyotiplendirme yapılmıştır. Bulgular: İncelenen balıketi örneklerinin 28\'inden (%28.0) A. hydrophila izole edilmiştir.
