Farklı dik yön büyüme paternine sahip iskeletsel Sınıf I bireylerde frontal ve maksiller sinüs boyutlarının değerlendirilmesi

Year 2024, Volume: 17 Issue: 2, 278 - 288, 16.08.2024

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, frontal ve maksiller sinüslerin boyutlarının iskeletsel Sınıf I ilişkiye sahip bireylerde dik yön büyüme paternlerindeki farklılıklardan ve cinsiyet farklılıklarından etkilenip etkilenmediğinin lateral sefalometrik radyografiler kullanılarak değerlendirilmesidir. Yöntem: Bu retrospektif çalışmada iskeletsel Sınıf I ilişkiye sahip (038°) bireylerden oluşan üç gruba ayrılmıştır.

Evaluation of frontal and maxillary sinus dimensions in skeletal Class I individuals with different vertical growth patterns

Year 2024, Volume: 17 Issue: 2, 278 - 288, 16.08.2024

Abstract

Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate whether the dimensions of the frontal and maxillary sinuses are affected by differences in vertical direction growth patterns and gender differences in individuals with skeletal Class I relationships, using lateral cephalometric radiographs. Method: In this retrospective study, 60 individuals (30 females, 30 males, mean age; 18.07 ± 1.77 years) with skeletal Class I relationship (038°) individuals. Frontal and maxillary sinus measurements were performed on digital lateral cephalometric radiographs of 20 individuals (10 females, 10 males) in each group. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Kruskal-Wallis, independent samples t-test and Mann-Whitney U test were used to analyze the data. Results: No statistically significant differences were found between the groups in terms of height, width, surface area and index measurements of the frontal and maxillary sinuses (p>0.05). In comparisons between genders, statistically significant differences were found in all parameters except the mean maxillary sinus width and frontal sinus height (p<0.05), and all parameters except the frontal sinus index were determined to be higher in males compared to females. Conclusion: It was observed that the differences in vertical growth pattern did not effect the frontal and maxillary sinus dimensions and index values of these sinuses. It was determined that the frontal and maxillary sinuses dimensions were larger in males compared to females.
