-The publication languages of the journal are Turkish and English. Manuscripts evaluated and accepted for publication must include both Turkish and English abstracts.
-Manuscripts must be written in MS Word on standard A4 paper size (21 x 29.5 cm), with 2.5 cm margins on all sides, using Cambria font, 11-point size, and double line spacing. Manuscripts are accepted only online through the website: http://dergipark.ulakbim.gov.tr/mersinsbd
-According to manuscript types, the sections of the manuscript should be as follows:
1. Research Article: Title page, Turkish abstract and keywords, English abstract and keywords, main text: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgement if any, References, Tables, Figures, Photographs, Images.
2. Review: Title page, Turkish abstract and keywords, English abstract and keywords, Introduction, subheadings related to the subject, References, Tables, Figures, Photographs, Images.
3. Case Report: Title page, Turkish abstract and keywords, English abstract and keywords, Introduction, Case Report, Discussion, References.
4. Letter to the Editor: There are no title and abstract sections. It should be stated which article the letter refers to, with issue and date information, and the author’s name, institution, and address should be included at the end. The response to the letter is given by the editor or the author(s) of the article, again by being published in the journal.
-Abbreviations used should be indicated in parentheses at the place where they first appear in the manuscript. Numbers between “1 and 9” in the text should be written in words, while numbers “10 and above” should be written in Arabic numerals.
-Sentences should not begin with numerals or numbers. Bacterial species should be written in italics, as in the example of M. tuberculosis.
Preparation of the Manuscript
Title Page
-The file requested by the journal editorial office can be downloaded from the Title Page tab. Click here to download the title page.
-The title of the manuscript, in Turkish and English, should be as short, informative, and relevant to the text as possible. The names and surnames of all authors should be included in the table according to the author order. The table must be completed fully. In addition, the corresponding author table should not be overlooked.
-The author contribution declaration table must be completed.
-If the manuscript has been presented as a paper at a national or international scientific event, the place and date should be stated.
-If the manuscript has been prepared from a thesis study, the title of the thesis, university, institute, department, and YÖKTEZ ID must be stated.
-If there is any person or institution financially supporting the study, this should be stated.
-The number of words in the manuscript, excluding references, and the number of tables, figures, photographs, and images, if any, should be stated.
-Author names or information identifying the institutions where the authors work should not appear anywhere in the manuscript except on the Title Page.
Abstract and Keywords
-Turkish and English abstracts should be prepared on separate pages. In research articles, abstracts should be at least 150 and at most 200 words; in case reports, they should be at least 100 and at most 150 words. Abbreviations should not be used in the abstract and references should not be cited. The abstract should include the following sections in order: Objective, Method, Results, and Conclusion.
-Keywords should be written in Turkish and English, separated from each other by commas, and should be at least three and at most five. The first keyword should begin with a capital letter, while the other keywords should begin with lowercase letters.
-Turkish keywords should be given in accordance with Türkiye Bilim Terimleri (TBT) (http://www.bilimterimleri.com).
-English keywords should be given in accordance with “Medical Subject Headings (MeSH)” (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/MBrowser.html).
Main Text
The main text should include the sections according to the manuscript types explained above. It should include the Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion sections. Abbreviations should be given in parentheses where the word first appears, and that abbreviation should be used throughout the entire text.
Limitations of the Study, if any
If the study has limitations, they should be presented in the main text after the Conclusion and Recommendations section.
References
-All manuscripts submitted to Mersin University Journal of Health Sciences must be prepared in accordance with the APA 7th edition referencing style for in-text citations and the reference list.
Tables, Figures, Photographs, Images
-Each table, figure, photograph, and image should be placed on a separate page. Titles should be written above tables and below figures, photographs, and images. The total number of tables, figures, photographs, and images should not exceed 5.
-Tables, figures, photographs, and images should be numbered with Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3…) according to the order in which they appear in the text. The image quality of figures and photographs submitted electronically should be high. Since the journal is published only online, figures, photographs, and images may be in color. In microscopic images, the magnification rate and the staining technique used should be stated.
- If the article contains previously published quoted text, tables, figures, photographs, images, etc., the author of the article must obtain written permission from the copyright holder and the authors, and this situation must be stated in the article. If requested, a copy of the written permission obtained must be sent to the editor.
İntihal (Plagiarism) kontrol
The plagiarism report of manuscripts submitted to the journal for evaluation must be provided by the author at the submission stage. The plagiarism report to be uploaded must be generated by Turnitin or iThenticate Plagiarism Detection Software. The manuscript title and the report title must be the same. The full PDF file of the report, with the marked text, must be uploaded. In order for the article to be taken into evaluation, the similarity rate in the report must not exceed 20%. When obtaining the similarity report, the filtering options should be set to exclude references, quotations, and bibliographies, and text sections containing fewer than 10 words of overlap should be excluded.
