INFORMAL EDUCATION IN EDUCATION AND DESIGN WORKSHOPS OF MUSEUMS

Abstract

Museums constitute the most suitable environment for informal education models. Museums take advantage of informal education as a new communication-based message language. Museums in our day emphasize informal education that offers the opportunity to repeat the acquired knowledge in a reinforcing environment. The education activities that take place in the interactive environment of museums span many fields from science to arts. Education projects that are offered in these different environments also vary according to age groups. Many museums in Turkey take advantage of informal education efforts in order to make their exhibitions more meaningful, and to prolong the promotion and influencing process. Museums organize informal education efforts that target various age groups and adults in their education and design workshops. The projects in these workshops keep curiosity, the passion for research, discovery and examination alive. Students learn by experiments and observations in science and technology workshops. Museums generally support informal training by organizing workshops based on providing children with creativity and problem-solving skills. Informal education efforts increase the appeal of the museum environment in terms of education skills, and make a charming impact on participants. Projects that are implemented in the education and design workshops of museums offer the participants a permanent learning environment
