Salih Zengin, Hüseyin Emin Öztürk,  Gülten Dayıoğlu, Aytül Akal, Ayla Çınaroğlu, Mavisel Yener, Fatih Erdoğan, Sevim Ak and Yalvaç Ural) whose works are included in children literature are examined in terms of proverbs they include. In this study, content analysis technique from qualitative reseraches is adopted and 67 proverbs in total are identified. To improve the active vocabulary, Turkish proverbs, in total about 1000, should be included in the books for children incrementally. Writers should include proverbs much more in children literature’s works to make children use Turkish correctly, well and effectively and improve their narrating and understanding skills. It is prescribed that paying attention to this study by children literature writers will contribute to the vocabulary, cultural and linguistic development of children
