EVALUATION OF PEER-REVIEWED EDUCATIONAL SCIENCE JOURNALS PUBLISHED IN TURKEY
Abstract
In the production and share of knowledge in universities, peerreviewed
journals have a very important position. In this study, evaluation of
peer-reviewed educational science journals published between the years 2005-
2008 in Turkey is aimed. In this context, first giving an international perspective,
then doing the analysis of journals from various aspects is aimed.
This research is a descriptive study. The data used in the study were
obtained from the Web sites of the reviewed journals (25 units). The journal
selection criteria in the study are as follows: Between the years 2005-2008, at
least two times in a year and regular publication; to be accessible through
Internet; to be reviewed by at least two referees; having the necessary data to be
used in this study in the web site.
Some important results achieved in the study are as follows: twenty-one
of the magazines published in Turkey are indexed by ULAKBIM, four of them
by SSCI, eight of them by EBSCO Host and nine of them by the other international
indexes. 20 journals out of 25 analyzed provide free access to full articles.
It has been observed that there is no harmony in writing articles in magazines
with regard to the article writing standards.
