COMPOSITION ORDER AND FIGURES’ YEAR SOLD LEFT HANDED CHILDREN’S PICTURES

Abstract

To understand a child who tries to express himself freely through drawing pictures, considering all types of progress he has made from his birth till adolescence, and to improve some methods and techniques may have an important contribution on art education of a child. As the lyrical, joyful and rich expression of a child attending pre-school dramatically becomes dull and inexpressive, it is urgently needed to have increasing number of researches in the field of children art education. The researches made on the pictures of children are basically focused on some points such as the performance of children, their approach to drawing pictures, how to express themselves through pictures, their feelings and their creativity etc. In this research, the composition of the pictures of the left-handed primary school students between 7 and 15 years old are analyzed regarding the elements in the pictures such as the dominant direction of the figures, their location, movement and symmetry. As a result of this research, it has been determined that “direction” factor may play an important role with the lefthanded children in their figure drawing. Furthermore, by taking various criteria in analyzing and evaluating children art education “direction of figures” has been strongly emphasized.
