The non-commercial (NC) definition of CC depends on the way it is used, not on the user. Even if you are a non-profit organization or charity, your use of an NC-licensed work may violate the NC ban, and even if you are a for-profit company, your use of an NC-licensed work may not violate the NC ban. For example, a non-profit institution may not sell an NC-licensed work belonging to someone else for profit, but a for-profit company may use an NC-licensed work belonging to someone else for non-commercial purposes. Whether a use is commercial or not varies according to the nature of the use.

ShareAlike Two of the licenses (Tu-SA and Tu-NC-SA) require that if adaptations of the licensed work are being shared, they must be submitted under the same or compatible license. There is also a short list of compatible licenses for sharing purposes. This shortlist includes later versions of the same license (for example, Tu-SA 4.0 is compatible with Tu-SA 3.0) and several non-CC licenses designated as compatible by Creative Commons (for example, Free Art License).
