Lınux İşletim Sistemine Karşı Tutum Ölçeği Geliştirme Çalışması/ Developıng Scale For Mesaurıng Students Attıdudes Toward Lınux

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı öğrencilerin Linux işletim sistemine karşı tutumlarını ölçen bir ölçek geliştirmektir. Ölçek geliştirilirken daha önce birçok alana uyarlanmış Fennema ve Sherman (1976) tarafından geliştirilen beşli likert tipi ölçek temel alınmış ve konunun gerektirdiği değişiklikler yapılmıştır. Ölçek daha önce Linux işletim sistemi dersini almış toplam 237 öğrenciye uygulanmıştır. Geçerlilik çalışması faktör analizi ile yapılmış ve “Linux'a Değer Verme”, “Linux'da Kendine Güven” ve “Sonuç Beklentileri” olarak isimlendirilen üç alt boyutun sonuç üzerindeki toplam değişimin %42.96'ını açıkladığı görülmüştür. Bu sonuç ölçeğin faktör yapısının güçlü olduğunu göstermektedir. Ölçeğin toplam güvenirliği 0.90 olarak bulunmuştur. Analiz sonuçlarında öğrencilerin Linux işletim sistemine karşı olumlu tutumlarının olmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır Bu sonuç Linux işletim sistemini konu alan derslerdeki başarı oranın düşük olmasının bir nedeni olarak gösterilebilir. Linux işletim sistemine karşı tutum, cinsiyet açısından incelenmiş, ancak cinsiyet açısından tutumları arasında anlamlı bir farkın olmadığı tespit edilmiştir.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to develop attitude scale to identify students' attitudes toward Linux operating system. While developing the scale we started to adapt items in the Fennema and Sherman (1976) likert type scale which was previously adapted by other studies. The scale was administered to 237 students who previously took Linux course. Factor analysis was run to test validity of the scale and found that there were three sub-scales which were named as “Value of Linux”, “Linux Self Efficacy”, and “Outcome Expectations”. These three sub-scales explain 42.96% of the variance of the result. This is evidence that the scale has strong factor structure. Overall validity of the scale was found to be as 0.90. Based on the results it is found that students do not have positive attitude toward Linux. Low success on the courses dealing with Linux subject may be attributed to this result. It was found that there was no difference between male and female students' attitudes toward Linux.
