MICHAEL J. SANDEL, PUBLIC PHILOSOPHY AND JUSTICE

Year 2014, Volume: 11 Issue: 25, 475 - 490, 09.04.2014

Abstract

Through centralizing the critical perspective of political philosopher Michael J. Sandel, this article analyzes the moral dilemmas and political problems that challenge individuals in liberal democratic societies. Sandel indicates the philosophical dimensions embedded in daily debates and shows the active participation of each and every individual into public philosophies. By doing this, he exposes the weak points of significant public philosophies. As one of the most popular public philosophies of our age, liberalism becomes the target of Sandelian criticism for eroding our common values and bonds of citizenship. Thus we need an understanding of justice and belonging beyond the limits of liberalism.

MICHAEL J. SANDEL, KAMUSAL FELSEFE VE ADALET

Year 2014, Volume: 11 Issue: 25, 475 - 490, 09.04.2014

Abstract

Bu makalede liberal demokratik toplumlarda bireylerin karşılaştıkları ahlaki ikilemler ve siyasi sorunlar siyaset filozofu Michael J. Sandel'in eleştirel perspektifi merkeze alınarak analiz edilmektedir. Sandel gündelik tartışmalara içkin felsefi boyutları açığa çıkararak her bireyin kamusal felsefelere aktif katılımını gösterir.
