Abstract

Aims: In this study, survey questions were asked to breeders dealing with silkworms in the districts of Defne, Antakya, Samandag and Yayladagı in Hatay province and the general situation of silkworm breeding was determined.

Methods and Results: When the general situation of silkworm breeding in Hatay province was examined, it was determined that there were problems in the supply of mulberry leaves, breeding problems, diseases and sales of the obtained cocoons. In the study, those who did not have land constituted 53.8% of the respondents. The lack of land of the breeders makes it difficult to obtain mulberry leaves. Other problems are that silkworm rearing is difficult and it is not a profitable business.

Conclusions: Silkworm breeders participating in the survey have problems in terms of mulberry leaves, care and feeding, and disease and pest control due to the fact that they do not have more land. In addition, there are problems in the sale of the cocoons obtained, and alternative solutions should be produced to eliminate these problems. Kozabirlik, which is the only union in this field in our country, should provide more support to silkworm breeders both in Hatay and other provinces.

Significance and Impact of the Study: There are few studies on silkworm breeding in Turkey. Within the scope of this study, the general situation of silkworm breeding in the districts of Hatay, Defne, Antakya, Samandag and Yayladagı was determined, the problems were determined and solution suggestions were presented.

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmada Hatay ili, Defne, Antakya, Samandağ ve Yayladağı ilçelerinde İpek böceği ile uğraşan yetiştiricilere anket soruları yöneltilmiş ve ipek böceği yetiştiriciliğinin genel durumu tespiti edilmiştir.

Yöntem ve Bulgular: Hatay ilinde ipek böceği yetiştiriciliğinin genel durumu incelendiğinde, dut yaprağı temini, yetiştirme sorunları, hastalık ve elde edilen kozaların satılmasında sıkıntılar yaşandığı tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmada arazisi olmayanlar, ankete katılanların % 53.8'ini oluşturmuştur. Yetiştiricilerin arazisi olmaması dut yaprağı elde edilmesini zorlaştırmaktadır. İpek böceği bakımının zor oluşu ve ipek böceği yetiştiriciliğinin karlı bir iş olmaması diğer sıkıntıları oluşturmaktadır.

Genel Yorum: Anket çalışmasına katılan ipek böceği yetiştiricileri daha çok arazisinin olmaması nedeniyle dut yaprağı elde edilmesinin zorlaşması, bakım ve besleme, hastalık ve zararlı ile mücadele konusunda sorun yaşamaktadırlar. Ayrıca elde edilen kozaların satılması konusunda da sıkıntılar yaşanmakta olup, bu sıkıntıların giderilmesi için alternatif çözümler üretilmelidir. Ülkemizdeki bu alanda tek birlik olan Kozabirlik, gerek Hatay ve gerekse diğer illerdeki ipek böceği yetiştiricilerine daha fazla destek sağlamalıdır.

Çalışmanın Önemi ve Etkisi: Türkiye’de İpek böceği yetiştiriciliği ile ilgili az sayıda çalışma bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışma kapsamında, Hatay ili, Defne, Antakya, Samandağ ve Yayladağı ilçelerinde İpek böceği yetiştiriciliğinin genel durumu belirlenip, sorunları tespit edilerek çözüm önerileri sunulmuştur.
