Abstract

Health communication; it is a basic building block that enables the exchange of information and interaction between people to improve health. This study aimed to give an idea about how the use of social media channels has progressed in the healthcare institutions and how they should progress in the transformation process in communication technologies. According to BoomSocial 2019 social media data analysis, in the light of the information obtained, the comparison of private health institutions and public health institutions that use social media most effectively has been made. Accordingly, the points at which the two sectors intersect and divide have been addressed. The risks brought and created by the social media to the healthcare sector were evaluated. In the study, social media accounts of public and private hospitals were analyzed by content analysis method. The information obtained has been tried to be explained by summarizing the messages targeted to be handled in terms of content. As a result of the study, it is possible to say that the use of social media has an important role in improving health and establishing health communication. It is thought that social media channels should be developed in both public and private health service providers and should be handled with more comprehensive evaluations.
