Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

IYYU MOZAİKA Journal of Language, Literature, Culture and Translation is an open-access scientific journal that applies a double-blind peer review process and adopts a continuous publication model. It conducts all its activities within the framework of the publication principles and ethical standards specified below.

Research and Publication Ethics

IYYU MOZAİKA Journal of Language, Literature, Culture and Translation adheres to national and international standards regarding research and publication ethics. The journal adopts the ethical principles and standards published in the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive and by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and conducts its editorial processes in accordance with these principles.

Submissions to the journal must be original, unpublished works and must not be under review or accepted for publication by another journal. All articles meeting these conditions are subject to a double-blind peer review process. To ensure the reliability of the scientific method, all stakeholders, including authors, reviewers, editors, publishers, and readers, are expected to strictly adhere to ethical standards. Plagiarism, forgery, distortion, republication (duplicate publication), salami slicing, and unfair authorship are considered ethical violations. Studies that do not meet these standards will be rejected; if potential violations are detected after publication, the relevant article will be retracted.

Author Responsibilities

It is the fundamental responsibility of the authors to ensure that the submitted studies fully meet scientific and ethical standards. Authors must guarantee that their submitted text is entirely original, has not been previously published in any medium, and is not simultaneously under review in another journal (even in a different language).

IYYU MOZAİKA Journal of Language, Literature, Culture and Translation maintains an uncompromising stance against plagiarism and predatory publishing practices. Accordingly, author(s) are expected to prepare research-based works that make a concrete contribution to the academic literature and fully comply with the journal's standards. Furthermore, all authors are required to base their work on the Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive determined by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and to declare that they have read and accepted the writing and publication policies announced by the journal.

  • Authors must upload their original works, which have not been published or submitted to another institution for review, to the system and strictly follow the journal's announced writing guidelines.
  • All sources utilized conceptually or methodologically during the preparation of the text must be referenced in accordance with the current citation system of the American Psychological Association (APA 7).
  • If data obtained through personal communication is to be included in the research text, it is mandatory to obtain the necessary legal permissions in advance from the individuals whose information is shared.
  • If the study is supported by any institution, organization, or fund, the source of the financial support and the relevant project/grant number must be transparently stated as a footnote on the first page of the article.
  • Institutional Ethics Committee Approval is required for all qualitative and quantitative research that necessitates data collection from participants using surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations, experiments, or interview techniques.
  • In studies involving human subjects or participants, a clear statement must be provided indicating that the rights of the individuals have been protected and their informed consent (voluntary participation approval) has been obtained.
  • Ethics committee approval documents required for experimental, clinical, and other scientific research conducted on humans or animals (including relevant data and materials) must be uploaded to the system.
  • If surveys, scales, photographs, ideas, or artworks belonging to third parties are used in the research, necessary copyright and usage permissions must be obtained from the copyright holders, and this must be stated in the article within the framework of copyright laws.

Editor and Reviewer Responsibilities

Conducting the academic publication process in a healthy, objective manner and in accordance with ethical standards is the joint responsibility of the editors and reviewers. Submissions to the journal are evaluated based on the journal's scope, academic quality, and originality. During this evaluation phase, personal or demographic characteristics of the author, such as race, gender, nationality, or political views, are strictly disregarded. Editors acting completely independently of the publisher constitutes the foundation of the publication policy; external institutions, the publisher, or the journal owner are not permitted to interfere with editorial decisions.

Studies that pass the preliminary evaluation are directed by the editors to reviewers with appropriate expertise in the subject of the article, ensuring there is no conflict of interest between the author and the reviewers. A fair double-blind peer review system is meticulously implemented in the journal; thus, the mutual confidentiality of author and reviewer identities is guaranteed until the article is published. In the event of a disagreement (one positive, one negative report) in studies examined by at least two independent reviewers, the process is resolved by appointing a third reviewer. The editor-in-chief is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all submitted information, preventing conflicts of interest, and making the final decision regarding the articles to be published in the journal.

The primary duty of the reviewers, the other crucial stakeholders of the process, is to provide objective, impartial, and timely feedback that will enhance the scientific quality of the studies they evaluate. Reviewers must not have any conflict of interest with the authors, institutions, or financial supporters of the research. A reviewer who feels they lack sufficient expertise on the topic of the assigned study or realizes they cannot complete the process within the stipulated time should immediately notify the editor and withdraw from the process. Furthermore, reviewers must act with the understanding that the texts they review are privileged and confidential information, must not discuss them with third parties, and must urgently report to the editor if they detect potential plagiarism or copyright infringement in the text.

Upon completion of the evaluation process, it is verified whether the revisions requested by the reviewers have been made by the authors. The texts with completed corrections undergo final proofreading and copyediting by the editor and associate editors, and a Copyright Transfer Form is requested from the authors. The protection of intellectual property rights is essential; editorial board members can never use unpublished data in their own personal research. Potential ethical violations that may arise before or even after publication are investigated.

IYYU MOZAİKA Journal of Language, Literature, Culture and Translation adopts the open access principle. Accordingly, all content published in the journal is presented completely free of charge to readers and researchers, and no fees are requested from users at any stage to access the articles.
