GÖÇMEN ÇOCUKLARDA AĞIZ SAĞLIĞI

Year 2022, Volume: 5 Issue: 2, 86 - 93, 30.06.2022

Abstract

ORAL HEALTH OF MIGRANT CHILDREN

Year 2022, Volume: 5 Issue: 2, 86 - 93, 30.06.2022
https://doi.org/10.55517/mrr.1034687

Abstract

According to the records, there are approximately 272 million international immigrants in 2020 and this number is increasing day by day. As in the world, the number of immigrants is increasing in Turkey and as of 2020, there are approximately 6 million international immigrants. The rate of child immigrants among international immigrants is estimated to be 13.9% in 2020. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), oral diseases are one of the most common health problems. Dental caries is the most common form of oral disease and is recognized as a public health problem affecting both children and adults worldwide, often leading to a significant reduction in the quality of life of individuals and communities. Recent research shows that migratory populations are more affected by dental caries than native populations. Many studies have been conducted on oral health, which is affected by origin, culture and environmental factors as well as socioeconomic status. According to these studies, sociocultural factors that affect the oral health of children in refugee and migrant communities should be understood. Understanding and accepting these factors is a prerequisite for determining where and how to intervene to improve oral health. The main purpose of this study is to examine the factors affecting oral health in immigrant children. Articles related to the subject were searched in Pubmed and Google Scholar databases and those found suitable were included in the study.
