Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

Publication Ethics

MSGSÜ Akademi Dergisi adopts the "Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" and the "Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers" set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), with the aim of ensuring ethical standards in scholarly periodical publishing. In accordance with TR Dizin criteria, MSGSÜ Akademi Dergisi complies with international standards. All editors of the journal ensure that each study has been approved by the relevant boards and committees prior to the commencement of research, and the field editor may request the necessary documentation from the author.

Notes for Reviewers

  1. Reviewers must take into account the "International Ethical Standards" of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in accordance with TR Dizin guidelines when evaluating manuscripts.
  2. Reviewers have the right to request ethics committee approval from authors for studies in all fields of science that require such approval, to ask that this approval be stated in the relevant sections of the manuscript, and to require that the relevant documentation be submitted to the journal. Reviewers must also ensure that this process is managed by the editor.
  3. For studies requiring ethics committee approval, information regarding the approval must be included in the manuscript.
  4. Reviewers have the right to request the withdrawal of a manuscript from publication (even if previously approved) if the authors fail to meet the criteria set by the Committee on Publication Ethics.
  5. Reviewers must ensure that copyright regulations have been observed for any intellectual and artistic works used in the research and included in the manuscript. They have the right to request all necessary documents or statements from the authors to verify this requirement.
  6. Reviewers are obliged to maintain confidentiality with authors and editors during and after the manuscript evaluation and publication process. Reviewers are responsible for any breaches of confidentiality that do not originate from the authors or editors. In such cases, the editor reserves the right to remove the reviewer from the process.

Notes for Authors

  1. Authors are obliged to comply with the international standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics for authors.
  2. Authors must obtain ethics committee approval for studies in all fields of science that require such approval, state this approval in the manuscript, document it, and submit it to the journal editor. Authors are obliged to fulfill any requests from editors and reviewers regarding these approvals. Failure to do so grants the editor the right to withdraw the manuscript from publication.
  3. Copyright regulations must be strictly observed for all intellectual and artistic works used in the research and included in the manuscript.
  4. Authors are obliged to maintain confidentiality between themselves and reviewers during and after the manuscript evaluation and publication process. Authors are responsible for any breaches of confidentiality that do not originate from editors or reviewers.

Notes for Editors

  1. Editors are obliged to comply with the "International Standards for Editors" established by the Committee on Publication Ethics.
  2. Editors must request ethics committee approval from authors for studies in all fields of science that require such approval, and must ensure that this approval is stated in the relevant sections of the manuscript and that the relevant documents are submitted to the journal.
  3. Editors have the right to withdraw a manuscript from publication (even if it has passed peer review) if the authors fail to meet the criteria set by the Committee on Publication Ethics.
  4. Editors must ensure that copyright regulations have been observed for all intellectual and artistic works used in the research and included in the manuscript. They have the right to request all necessary documents or statements from the authors to verify this requirement.
  5. Editors are obliged to maintain confidentiality between authors and reviewers during and after the manuscript evaluation and publication process. Editors are responsible for any breaches of confidentiality that do not originate from authors or reviewers.

Publication Policy

  1. MSGSÜ Akademi Dergisi is a national peer-reviewed journal published twice a year.
  2. Manuscripts submitted for publication in the journal must be original, previously unpublished scholarly articles, research papers, reviews, translations, book reviews/critiques, or interviews that contribute to the field.
  3. Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be written in Turkish or English.
  4. Manuscripts are sent to reviewers following a preliminary assessment by the field editors. A blind peer review process is applied during the evaluation of manuscripts.
  5. In accordance with the journal's publication policies, the similarity rate of manuscripts submitted to the journal via DergiPark is checked using the iThenticate software. The similarity rate must not exceed 20% for a manuscript to be accepted for review. Manuscripts with a similarity rate of 20% or above are rejected outright and the peer review process is not initiated. Manuscripts that meet this requirement are forwarded to reviewers.
  6. In cases where scholarly publication ethics are violated during the evaluation process — including misconduct, conflicts of interest, or copyright infringement — the international ethical principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics shall apply.
  7. MSGSÜ Akademi Dergisi adheres to international open access principles with the aim of ensuring that academic knowledge serves the public good. The use of manuscripts published in the journal after peer review is permitted within the framework of international open access definitions.
  8. All authors of manuscripts published in the journal are deemed to have accepted the open access conditions.
  9. Manuscripts that pass the preliminary review and similarity screening stages are evaluated by the relevant field editor in terms of subject matter, scope, language, and academic quality. Field editors assume the publication ethics responsibilities defined for editors from the acceptance of the manuscript through to the publication of the issue.
  10. APA 7 referencing system must be used in all manuscripts submitted to the journal.
  11. Scientific responsibility for all manuscripts published in the journal rests with their authors.
  12. Regarding the use of generative artificial intelligence, authors must comply with the principles set out in the "Ethical Guide on the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Research and Publication Activities in Higher Education Institutions."
