Article Template (TR):📝 MSGSÜ_Akademi_Makale_Sablonu.docx

Article Template (ENG):📝 MSGSÜ_Akademi_Makale_Sablonu (ENG).docx

1. General Writing Guidelines

Manuscripts must be prepared in Microsoft Word. The text should be written in Times New Roman, 12-point font, with 1.5 line spacing and justified alignment. A 1.27 cm first-line indent should be used at the beginning of each paragraph. Spacing before paragraphs should be set to 0 pt and after paragraphs to 6 pt. The total length of the manuscript, including the reference list and appendices, must not exceed 8,000 words. The manuscript should be organized in the following order: title, Turkish abstract and keywords, English abstract and keywords, main text, references, and appendices (if any).

2. Headings

  • The article title should be written in Times New Roman, 14-point, bold, left-aligned, and must not exceed twelve words.
  • First-level headings should be bold, left-aligned, and 12-point.
  • In second-level headings, the first letter of each word should be capitalized; headings should be bold, left-aligned, and 12-point.
  • Third-level headings should be italic, 12-point, and left-aligned, with the first letter of each word capitalized.
  • Fourth-level headings should be indented 0.5 cm, followed by a period, with the text continuing on the same line.

3. Author Information

Author names and surnames should appear below the title. The corresponding author must be indicated. Authors' titles, institutional affiliations, email addresses, and ORCID information should be provided in a footnote. Since the peer review process is conducted on a double-blind basis, identifying information must not appear in the manuscript at the initial submission stage. This information will be requested from the author(s) after the review process is completed.

4. Abstract and Keywords

Turkish and English abstracts must not exceed 150 words each. The abstract should briefly state the purpose, method, main findings, and conclusions of the research. No paragraph indentation or citations should be used in the abstract sections. Three to five keywords should be provided below each abstract.

5. In-Text Citations

In-text citations must follow APA 7 guidelines.

  • Single-author works: (Moran, 1994)
  • Two-author works: (Yılmaz & Kaya, 2025)
  • Works with three or more authors: (Armağan et al., 2025)
  • When multiple sources are cited within the same parenthesis, they should be listed in alphabetical order by author surname (Dündar, 2018; Güzel, 2022; Leman, 1996).
  • Different works by the same author published in different years should be listed in chronological order (Moran, 1994, 2001, 2005).
  • Works by the same author published in the same year should be distinguished by adding a letter after the year (Yılmaz, 2023a, 2023b).
  • When a secondary source is used, consulting the original source is essential; however, for sources that cannot be accessed, "as cited in" may be used (Freud, 1900, as cited in Yıldırım, 2022).
  • For works with institutional authorship, the full name of the institution should be provided in the first citation, followed by its abbreviation in subsequent citations (Türk Dil Kurumu [TDK], 2023; TDK, 2023).

When citing ancient works in the text, standard section or line numbers should be used instead of page numbers:

  • (Plato, 375 BCE/2019, 514a–517a)
  • (Aristotle, 4th century BCE/2017, Book II, 1103b)
  • (Homer, 8th century BCE/2005, IX. 225–230)

Personal communications (verbal interviews, email correspondence, direct interactions, etc.) should only be cited within the text; such sources are not included in the reference list.

  • Narrative citation: Yılmaz (personal communication, March 12, 2022) stated in the interview.
  • Parenthetical citation: (Yılmaz, personal communication, March 12, 2022)

Page numbers must be provided in direct quotations. Direct quotations of fewer than forty words should be enclosed in quotation marks.

  • "Direct quotation in quotation marks" (Moran, 1994, p. 34)
  • Moran (1994) used the expression "direct quotation in quotation marks" (p. 34).

Direct quotations of forty words or more should be presented as a separate block paragraph in 11-point font, indented 1.25 cm from both the left and right margins. Quotation marks should not be used in block quotations. The citation should be placed in parentheses at the end of the quotation.

Footnotes should be used only to provide supplementary explanatory information, not for citation purposes. Footnotes should be numbered, placed at the bottom of the page, and written in 10-point font with single line spacing.

6. Methods Section

Research articles must include a methods section. The following subheadings are recommended for this section:

  • Research Model / Research Design
  • Study Group / Participants
  • Data Collection Instruments
  • Data Collection and Analysis

7. Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should be placed as close as possible to where they are first mentioned in the text. Table numbers and titles should appear above the table. Table titles should be italicized. Figure numbers and titles should appear above the figure. Figure titles should be italicized. Table content should be in Times New Roman, 11-point font, and may be reduced to 9-point when necessary. Only necessary horizontal lines should be used in tables; vertical lines should not be used. Statistical symbols (M, SD, F, p, etc.) should be italicized. Notes for tables and figures should be provided below them using the label "Note." when necessary.

8. Ethical Principles

MSGSÜ Akademi Dergisi adheres to the principles of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and the ethical criteria of TR Dizin.

Ethics Committee Statement

For studies requiring ethics committee approval, the relevant approval must be obtained before the research begins. The name of the ethics committee, the date of the decision, and the decision number must be clearly stated in the manuscript. For studies that do not require ethics committee approval, this should be explicitly stated in the "Ethics Committee Statement" section. All responsibility for compliance with ethical principles and obtaining the necessary permissions rests with the authors.

Conflict of Interest

Authors must explicitly disclose any conflict of interest related to the manuscript. If no conflict of interest exists, the statement "No conflict of interest is declared." should be included.

Funding

If the research has been supported by any institution, organization, or project, the funding information (institution name, project number, etc.) must be clearly stated. If no funding support was received, the statement "This research received no external funding." should be included.

Author Contribution Statement

This section may be omitted for single-authored works. For multi-authored works, each author's contribution should be specified (Conceptual framework: …; Methodology: …; Data collection: …; Analysis: …; Writing: …).

9. References

The reference list must be prepared in accordance with APA 7 guidelines. References should be in Times New Roman, 12-point font, with single line spacing. Sources should be listed in alphabetical order, with a 1.27 cm hanging indent applied to each entry. Only sources cited within the text should be included in the reference list; sources not cited in the text must not be added.
