NİCELLEŞTİRİLMİŞ BENLİĞİN VE POLİTİK KATILIMININ ELEŞTİRİSİ

Öz

Bu makale, benliklerin nicelleştirilerek veriye dönüştürülmesinin ve nicelleştirilmiş benliklerin politik
katılımının eleştirisini içerir. Foucaultcu bir açıklamayla benliklerin bir iktidar pratiği olarak ele
alınması, temel özelliği sayabilme olan dijitalleşmenin inşa ettiği nicelleştirilmiş benliği sorgulama
ihtiyacını doğurur. İnsanların kendileri hakkındaki bilgilerini nicelleştirmesi, onları kendilerini sürekli
bir iyileştirme arayışına, kontrol arzusuna ve optimizasyona sürükler. Daha çok kişisel bilginin
verileştirilip işlenmesi benliklerin yönetilmesini kolaylaştırır. Kendini sayılar aracılığıyla tanıyarak
sürekli kendi performansı üzerine yoğunlaşmak ve kendini optimize etmek nicelleştirilmiş benliğin
temel özellikleridir. Nicelleştirilmiş benliğin bir ethos oluşturması onun politik anlamda incelenmesi
gerektiğini gösterir. Hem dijitalleşmenin politik katılım için bir araç olarak sunduğu hem de kişinin
profiller aracılığıyla benliğini sunduğu sosyal platformlar, nicelleştirilmiş benliğin incelemesi için verimli
bir alan teşkil eder. Dijitalleşme politik katılım için birçok yeni imkân ve araç sağlamış olsa da
beraberinde birçok yeni tehlikeyi içerir. Kamusal alanın özelleştirilip özel alanın kamusallaştırılması,
kişiselleştirilmiş haberlerin kişileri çeşitli “dürtme” yöntemleriyle başkaları tarafından belirlenen
gündemlere çekmesi, profillerine yoğunlaşan kişilerin kendini optimize etme çabaları doğrultusunda
politik açıdan radikalleşmeleri, güçlenme ve kontrol arzusuyla narsistik tutumlar sergilemeleri
bu tehlikelerden bazılarıdır. Dijitalleşmenin söz konusu tehlikelerine dikkat çekip tartışmak, çeşitli
politik kavramların yeniden gözden geçirilmesini gerektirebilir.
