THE MODEL OF A SUSTAINABLE UNIVERSITY FOR TURKEY

Abstract

Universities can be regarded as “small cities” due to large size, population, and various complex
activities taking place in campuses, which have some serious direct and indirect impacts on the
environment. Although many environmental protection measures can be seen at some universities,
a more systematic and sustainable approach to reducing the negative impacts of those activities and
making the campuses more sustainable, is generally lacking. Therefore in this study, examined studies
on sustainability and “sustainable university model” has been proposed for universities in Turkey.

TÜRKİYE İÇİN SÜRDÜRÜLEBİLİR ÜNİVERSİTE MODELİ

Abstract

Üniversiteler; büyük boyutları, nüfusları ve gerçekleştirdikleri pek çok iş ve eylemleriyle küçük bir
şehir gibidir ve çevreye doğrudan ve dolaylı olarak olumsuz etkiler yapar. Bu konuda kimi üniversitelerde çeşitli önlemler alınıyorsa da sistemli çalışmalarda eksiklikler bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada,
sürdürülebilirlik konusunda üniversitelerin yaptıkları çalışmalar incelenmiş, Türkiye’deki üniversiteler için “sürdürülebilir üniversite modeli” oluşturulmuştur.
