Political Membership and Activism as a Political Participation Form in Postmodern Era
Abstract
Political parties emerged in the process of massification of politics have an important function on citizens’ attending in decision making process. These functions of political parties bring along a set of corporate properties from its emergence to present. Membership system is a crucial structure that political parties have. But today, with the effects of socio-economic and political variations, membership and activist systems of political parties have started to considerably lose the ground that they hold on. Yet, political parties need the membership activism corporately in establishing a connection with voters, just as they continue the characteristic of being main factor of politics. Technological development in the mobilization of the electorate with the postmodern period has had a significant impact. This article emphasizes the importance of membership system and activism in the frame of these discussions emerged with regard to political parties.
