Peer Review Statement

Peer Review Statement
Using the system, authors submit original and revised manuscripts, editorial staff sends manuscripts out for peer review, reviewers conduct reviews and return comments. All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editors and they are scanned for plagiarism using iThenticate software. After plagiarism check, the eligible ones are evaluated by editor-in-chief for their originality, methodology, the importance of the subject covered and compliance with the journal scope. If manuscripts are found eligible for further consideration, they are sent to double-blind peer review by two independent, anonymous expert referees.

The articles sent for publication are firstly examined by the Masthead in terms of purpose, subject, content and writing rules. In this respect, the author names of those deemed appropriate are hidden and sent to two referees who are accepted with scientific works and works in the field for scientific evaluation in line with the opinion of the members of the Editorial Board. In no way is the author name sent to the referees, and the name of the referee is not disclosed to the authors. Referee reports are kept for two years. If one of the referee's reports is positive and the other is negative, the article can be sent to a third referee or the Editorial Board can make its final decision through the reports. The authors take into account the criticism, suggestions and correction requests of the referees and Editorial Board. The articles that are decided to be published are put in order, but they can make some changes for many reasons related to journalism such as editor, file preparation, and necessity. Even if the referee processes have been completed and the publication has been decided, no article with the content "to be published" is given for any article.

In the articles to be published at the Musicologist, the condition of not being published anywhere before is required. No more than two articles of an author can be published in the same year. The review process of the second article is not started until the first article of the same author is published.
