Abstract
Newborn hearing screening enables early diagnosis of congenital hearing loss. This procedure allows the patients to have the necessary hearing rehabilitation at the most appropriate time. In this retrospective study, the results of newborn hearing screening performed in Erzurum Regional Training and Research Hospital which was appointed by Ministry of Health as a referral general hospital, between 2017 and 2019, and the risk factors for hearing loss were evaluated. Hyperbilirubinemia and positive history of hearing loss were found to be important risk factors for hearing loss. Hearing screening should be done to all newborns and all risk factors should be questioned meticulously. Studies should be carried out to ensure that newborns, who couldn’t pass the test, apply again at the desired time to repeat the test.
