Abstract

Telemedicine makes it possible to examine, evaluate and investigate patients remotely by using technologies such as sound and image in the field of health. As technology develops, the demand for remote healthcare services is increasing. With the COVİD-19 epidemic affecting the whole world, telemedicine has also become popular in dentistry. Telemedicine is used in many departments such as orthodontics, endodontics, pedodontics and oral and maxillofacial surgery. Telemedicine facilitated access to remote patients and reduced cost and clinical workload. However, remote telemedicine applications have various disadvantages, such as the inability to perform a physical examination, the low quality of the information obtained, the possibility of data security problems and some legal problems, or internet access problems.Today, telemedicine is also used in many areas of oral and maxillofacial surgery such as temporomandibular joint disorders, implant planning, follow-up of trauma patients, consultation of patients, easy post-operative care after minor surgeries, and virtual training. The aim of this review is to discuss telemedicine applications, advantages, disadvantages and how it is used in which procedures in oral and maxillofacial surgery, which is a branch of dentistry.

Ağız, Diş ve Çene Cerrahisinde Tele-Diş Hekimliği Uygulamaları: Derleme
