Oral Kavitede Sınırlılıklar, Diş Hekimliği ve Heykel Sanatı Arasındaki İzdüşümler

Abstract

Bu çalışma, diş hekimliğini oral kavite gibi kısıtlı ve kinetik bir alanda icra edilen inşa sanatı olarak kavramsallaştırır. Hekim, tıpkı bir mikroheykeltıraş gibi milimetrik hassasiyetle form, doku ve ışığı yönetir. Ancak atölyesi, klasik sanatçının sessiz ve kontrol edilebilir stüdyosundan çok farklıdır. Ağız içi, dil hareketleri, tükürük akışı, kanama ve öğürme refleksi gibi biyolojik dirençlerle doludur. Hekim, ayna yardımıyla ters görüntüyü üç boyutlu olarak zihinde canlandırmak zorundadır. Bu durum, el-göz koordinasyonu ve ileri düzey uzamsal algı gerektirir. Çalışmada, Gadamer’in hermeneutik yaklaşımı ve niteliksel doküman analizi kullanılarak, klinik prosedürler sanat felsefesindeki negatif alan, mimesis ve techne kavramları üzerinden yeniden okunmuştur. Bulgular, diş hekiminin estetik kararlarının, biyolojik ve etik sınırlar içinde alındığını, her vakada karşılaşılan biyolojik biricikliğin sanatsal yaratım sürecini andırdığını göstermektedir. Pierre Fauchard’dan günümüze uzanan tarihsel perspektif, diş hekimliğinin mekanik zanaattan estetik bir disipline evrildiğini ortaya koyar. Bu evrimde, malzemenin geri dönüşsüzlüğü ve deontolojik sorumluluk öne çıkar. Sonuç olarak, diş hekimliği sanatın ve tıbbın kesişiminde özgün bir konuma sahiptir. Bu bağlamda, diş hekimliği eğitimine sanatsal algı ve plastik sanatlar modüllerinin entegre edilmesi, öğrencilerin üç boyutlu düşünme, estetik vizyon ve stresli ortamlarda doğaçlama becerilerini geliştirebilir. Bu tür hibrit eğitim yaklaşımları, geleceğin hekimlerini düşman atölye koşullarına daha donanımlı hazırlayabilir. Constraints of the Oral Cavity: Intersections Between Dentistry and Sculpture

Abstract

This study conceptualizes dentistry as an art of construction performed in a restricted and kinetic space such as the oral cavity. The practitioner manages form, texture, and light with millimetric precision, akin to a micro-sculptor. However, their atelier is vastly different from the quiet and controllable studio of a classical artist. The intraoral environment is replete with biological resistances such as tongue movements, salivary flow, bleeding, and the gag reflex. The practitioner must mentally reconstruct the inverted mirror image into a three-dimensional form. This condition requires exceptional hand-eye coordination and advanced spatial perception. Employing Gadamer’s hermeneutic approach and qualitative document analysis, this study re-examines clinical procedures through the concepts of negative space, mimesis, and techne within art philosophy. The findings indicate that the aesthetic decisions of the dentist are made within biological and ethical boundaries, and the biological uniqueness encountered in each case strongly resembles the artistic creation process. The historical perspective extending from Pierre Fauchard to the present reveals the evolution of dentistry from a mechanical craft into an aesthetic discipline. The irreversibility of the material and deontological responsibility stands out in this evolution. Consequently, dentistry holds a unique position at the intersection of art and medicine. In this context, integrating artistic perception and plastic arts modules into dental education can enhance students' three-dimensional thinking, aesthetic vision, and improvisation skills in stressful environments. Such hybrid educational approaches can better prepare future practitioners for the conditions of a hostile atelier.
