Mersin Üniversitesi Sağlık Hizmetleri Meslek Yüksekokulu Öğrencilerinin Tıbbi Yapay Zekâ Hazır Bulunuşlukları

Abstract

Amaç: Geleceğin sağlık çalışanlarını oluşturacak sağlık konusunda eğitim alan gençlerin yapay zeka teknolojilerine yönelik hazır bulunuşluk düzeyleri, sağlık hizmetlerinin sanal dönüşümünde kritik bir yol göstericidir. Çalışmamızda Sağlık Hizmetleri Meslek Yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin tıbbi yapay zekâ hazır bulunuşluklarının düzeyinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Çalışma Mersin Üniversitesi Sağlık Hizmetleri Meslek Yüksekokulunun adları, Ameliyathane Hizmetleri, Anestezi, İlk ve Acil Yardım, Tıbbi Dokümantasyon ve Sekreterlik, Tıbbi Laboratuvar Teknikleri, Tıbbi Görüntüleme Teknikleri ve Yaşlı Bakımı olmak üzere yedi programında okuyan birinci sınıf öğrencileri ile yapılmıştır. Öğrencilere sosyodemografik soruların yanında Tıbbi Yapay Zekâ Hazır Bulunuşluk Ölçeği (Medical Artificial Intelligence Readiness Scale for Medical Students (MAIRS-MS)) soruları soruldu. Verilerin analizi SPSS yazılımı kullanılarak gerçekleştirildi. Verilerin normal dağılıma uygunluğu Shapiro–Wilk testi ile değerlendirilmiştir. İki bağımsız grubun karşılaştırılmasında Mann–Whitney U testi, ikiden fazla grubun karşılaştırılmasında Kruskal–Wallis H testi kullanılmıştır. İstatistiksel anlamlılık düzeyi p < 0,05 olarak kabul edilmiştir. Bulgular: Cinsiyete göre yapılan Mann–Whitney U testi sonuçlarına göre, bilişsel (p = 0,034), öngörü (p = 0,014) ve Tıbbi Yapay Zekâ Hazır Bulunuşluk toplam puanı (p = 0,049) açısından kadın ve erkek öğrenciler arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklar saptanmıştır. Sonuç: Yapay Zeka dersinin müfredatlara zorunlu olarak girmesi fikri hazır bulunuşluk düzeyimizi yükseltmek için gerekli olduğu önerilmektedir.

Medical Artificial Intelligence Readiness Among Students at the Mersin University Vocational School of Health Services

Abstract

Objective: The level of readiness among young people pursuing healthcare education who will form the healthcare workforce of the future regarding artificial intelligence technologies serves as a critical guide in the digital transformation of healthcare services. The aim of our study is to determine the level of readiness of Vocational School of Health Services students regarding medical artificial intelligence. Method: The study was conducted with first-year students enrolled in seven programs at the Mersin University Vocational School of Health Services: Operating Room Services, Anesthesia, First Aid and Emergency, Medical Documentation and Secretarial, Medical Laboratory Techniques, Medical Imaging Techniques, and Geriatric Care. In addition to sociodemographic questions, students were administered the Medical Artificial Intelligence Readiness Scale for Medical Students (MAIRS-MS). Data analysis was performed using SPSS software. The normality of the data distribution was assessed using the Shapiro–Wilk test. The Mann–Whitney U test was used to compare two independent groups, and the Kruskal–Wallis H test was used to compare more than two groups. A p-value of <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: According to the results of the Mann–Whitney U test conducted by gender, statistically significant differences were found between female and male students in terms of cognitive (p = 0.034), predictive (p = 0.014), and total Medical Artificial Intelligence Readiness scores (p = 0.049). Conclusion: It is suggested that making artificial intelligence a mandatory part of the curriculum is necessary to raise our level of preparedness.
