Doctor Mustafa Hayrullah Diker and His Work Entitled “Felsefe-i Tıb”
Abstract
Abstract Dr. Mustafa Hayrullah Diker (1875-1950) who lived in early 20th century, is one of the eminent physicians. He specialized in forensic medicine, neurology and psychiatry, and after returning Turkey, he made contribution in these three fields actively. In addition, he wrote books and articles in different subjects. In his retirement, he selected as deputy and worked for a while. In this article, it was aimed to introduce his interesting work, which was written in different subject, entitled Felsefe-i Tıb (1897), and to determine its importance for our history of science. As known, theoretical and methodological works serves to determine fundamental principles in a discipline and they are taken as landmarks for the discipline. This work which is a kind of introduction to methodology/philosophy of science, however uncompleted, has an importance for showing points of view of Ottoman physicians.
