Abstract

Abstract

Archaeology is a discipline that studies the cultural heritage of our ancestors and conducts excavations, research and analysis to understand past civilizations. However, climate change, an important problem we face today, has the potential to affect this cultural heritage. This article discusses research aimed at understanding the connections between archaeology and climate change. The article performs a bibliometric analysis using 585 research articles obtained as a result of scanning the Web of Science database. This analysis reveals academic interest and trends in climate change and archaeology. By examining the change in the number of articles over the years, it is shown that the subject has an increasing importance. Additionally, prominent journals and authors were identified, leading figures in the field and publication trends on this subject, cross-country collaboration networks were examined, and collaborations between countries sharing similar research topics were examined. The network map created by VOSviewer visually presents the relationships between keywords frequently mentioned in articles. In this way, it helps researchers better understand the connections between certain concepts and plan their future studies.
