Üniversite öğrencilerinin oy verme davranışları üzerine bir inceleme: Karabük Üniversitesi örneği

Abstract

Siyasal iletişim sürecinde kullanılan iletişim araçlarının siyasal tutum ve siyasal katılım üzerinde ne derece etkili olduğu sosyal bilimciler tarafından uzun yıllardır merak konusudur. Bu konuda demografik özelliklerin önemi büyüktür. Yani demografik yapının insanların tutum ve davranışlarında etkili olduğu bir gerçektir. Bu çalışmanın konusu olan genç kuşağın tutumları büyük önem arz etmektedir. Türkiye gibi genç kuşağın ağırlıklı olduğu ülkelerde gençlerin davranışlarını anlamak için çeşitli araştırmalar gerçekleştirilmektedir. Diğer alanlarda olduğu gibi siyasal katılım açısından üniversiteli gençlerin siyasal tutum ve katılımlarını ölçmek önemlidir. Bu çalışma; üniversiteli gençlerin siyasal tutumlarını ve oy verme davranışlarını ortaya çıkarmak amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmanın gerçekleştirilmesi için literatürdeki siyasal tutum ölçeklerinden yararlanılarak bir ölçek geliştirilmiştir. 18 sorudan oluşan anket ölçeğinde; demografik sorular, üniversite öğrencilerinin oy verme davranışlarını etkileyen faktörleri ölçmek amacıyla 5’li Likert tipi ifadeler, katılımcıların kendilerine en yakın ve en uzak bulduğu partiyi ifade etmeleri için ucu açık sorular, katılımcıların siyasi ve demokratik ifadelere tepkilerini ölçmek amacıyla 5’li Likert Tipi ifadeler bulunmaktadır. Çalışma kapsamında Karabük Üniversitesi, İşletme Fakültesi’nden 400 öğrenci ile yüz-yüze görüşmeye dayalı bir anket çalışması gerçekleştirilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler SPSS uygulamasından yararlanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmaya katılım sağlayan Karabük üniversitesi öğrencileri arasında partilerin seçim beyannamelerine daha fazla ilgi duyulduğu, oransal olarak Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi’ne yakınlığın daha yüksek olduğu, AK Parti ve DEM Parti’ye yakınlığın ise daha düşük olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

A study on the voting behaviour of university students: The case of Karabuk University

Abstract

It has been a matter of curiosity for many years by social scientists to what extent the communication tools used in the political communication process are effective on political attitudes and political participation. Demographic characteristics are of great importance in this regard. In other words, it is a fact that demographic structure is effective in people’s attitudes and behaviors. The attitudes of the young generation, which is the subject of this study, are of great importance In countries such as Turkey, where the young generation is predominant, various researches are carried out to understand the behavior of young people. As in other areas, it is important to measure the political attitudes and participation of university students in terms of political participation. This study; It was carried out to reveal the political attitudes and voting behaviors of university students. In order to carry out the study, a scale was developed by using the political attitude scales in the literature. In the questionnaire scale consisting of 18 questions; demographic questions, 5-point Likert-type statements to measure the factors affecting the voting behavior of university students, open-ended questions for participants to express the party they find closest and farthest from them, and 5-point Likert-type statements to measure participants’ reactions to political and democratic statements.Within the scope of the study, a survey based on face-to-face interviews was carried out with 400 students from Karabuk University, Faculty of Business Administration. As a result of the research; It has been determined that among the students of Karabük University who participated in the study, there is more interest in the election declarations of the parties, proportionally the closeness to the Republican People’s Party is higher, while the closeness to the AK Party and Dem Party is lower.
