In this study, fenton, fenton like and potassium permanganate was used for excess sludge elimination. The effect of these chemical oxidants on sludge reduction, effluent water quality and sludge characteristics were investigated. Besides, the obtained results were compared with studies made by using ozone and chlorine because of the same concentrations were used. Sludge minimization was found as 80 % for fenton, 75 % fenton like and 75 % potassium permanganate. However, effluent water quality and sludge characteristics worsened. It is found that fenton is able to replace the ozonation and chlorine in term of excess sludge reduction and cost.
Bu çaly?mada, fenton, fenton-benzeri ve potasyum permanganat kullanylarak olu?an a?yry çamur miktarlaryndaki azalmalar tespit edilmi?tir.
