THE EFFECTS OF WEBQUEST ASSISTED COOPERATIVE LEARNING METHOD ON THE ACHIEVEMENT TOWARDS MATHEMATICS LESSON

Main purpose of the research is to find out if Webquest assisted cooperative learning method has any effects on the mathematics mathematics achievement level of 5th grade students. The research was carried out during 2006-2007 school year on 67 students of 5th grade attending Dumlupınar Primary School located in the centre of Niğde. The effect of "Webquest assisted cooperative learning method" on achievement levels of 5th grade students regarding mathematics was examined using experimental method. Three groups – two experimental and a control - were formed in the research. The data were collected by means of "Mathematics Success Test" which aimed to measure the students' academic success level of mathematics. According to the findings of the research it was seen that there was a significant difference in favor of webquest assisted cooperative learning method between the post-test score means of mathematics success test of the students in the cooperative learning and control group and those in the experimental group to which the webquest assisted cooperative learning method was applied. Accordingly, webquest assisted cooperative learning method has turned out to be a factor which helps students' achievement levels improve at mathematics course.
