The research was conducted with 394 8th grade students from 13 elementary schools all of whom were selected from different socio-cultural level. Both quantitative and qualitative approaches were adopted in the research. As for research data, they were collected via mathematic achievement tests and mathematic attitude scale. In addition to these, data, which belong to representation systems of the students, was analyzed by using 5-point Likert scale. In the analysis of the quantitative data of the research arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t-test, analysis of variance were used. As a result of the research, it is found that there is a significant difference between attitudes towards mathematics and genders. However, significant difference(s) was not found between achievement in mathematics and genders, genders and representation systems, representation systems and achievement in mathematics.
