TEACHERS' PERCEPTIONS OF SCHOOL CULTURE IN TERMS OF SOME VARIABLES

Abstract

This study, in terms of various features was made to uncover primary school teachers' perception of school culture. The data is gathered via "School Culture Scale" (SCS) which has been developed by the searcher. For the analysis of data arithmetic average, standard deviation, t-test, one-way analysis of variance (F) and LSD test of materiality were used. The result of the research can be summarized as followings: considering all aspects of SCS at large, such variables as duration of service at school , school type, the socio-economic level of the school environment, school size cause important differences. Such variables as teachers' genders in "Integration and Belonging" dimension of SCS, age in "School-Environment Correlation" dimension, duration of service in the scale and all dimensions apart from "Democratic Management and Participation", education level in "School-Environment Relationship" dimension, the age of the school in "Democratic Management and Participation" dimension are important sets. Teachers' perceptions of SCS in general and in all dimensions do not make important difference depending on "branch" variable.

BAZI DEĞİŞKENLER AÇISINDAN ÖĞRETMENLERİN OKUL KÜLTÜRÜNE İLİŞKİN ALGILARI

Abstract

Bu çalışma, çeşitli özellikleri açısından ilköğretim okulu öğretmenlerinin okul kültürüne ilişkin algılarını ortaya çıkarmak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Veriler araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen "Okul Kültürü Ölçeği" (OKÖ) aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma, t- testi, tek yönlü varyans çözümlemesi (F) ve LSD önemlilik testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular şöyle özetlenebilir: OKÖ'nün tüm boyutları ile genelinde okuldaki görev süresi, okul türü, okulun bulunduğu çevrenin sosyo-ekonomik düzeyi, okul büyüklüğü değişkenleri önemli farklılaşmaya neden olmaktadır. OKÖ'nün "Bütünleşme ve Aidiyet" boyutunda öğretmenlerin cinsiyet; "Okul-Çevre İlişkisi" boyutunda yaş; "Demokratik Yönetim ve Katılım" dışındaki tüm boyutlarda ve ölçek genelinde öğretmenlik kıdemi; "Okul-Çevre İlişkisi" boyutunda öğrenim düzeyi; "Demokratik Yönetim ve Katılım" boyutunda okul yaşı değişkenleri önemli bir belirleyicidir. Öğretmenlerin OKÖ'nün hem geneline hem de tüm boyutlarına ilişkin algıları branş değişkenine göre önemli bir farklılık göstermemektedir.
