The objective of this survey is to make pre-service music teachers' who are currently attending in Music Departments of Education Faculties, views and experiences understandable on the success of previous formal and mass educational systems in the field of music. The population of this survey consists of 20 pre-service music teachers from two Music Departments of Education Faculties at 19 Mayys University and at Cumhuriyet University. 11 students from 19 Mayys University and 9 students from Cumhuriyet University were selected as the sample group of this study. Analyzing inteview data method has been preferred in this study. And, in resolving the achieved data the partial content analysis method was taken into consideration. At the end, the outcome of this survey indicates that; The pre-service teachers gained a better and positive experience during the mass education period then in the period of formal education.
