BAYEZID: A SLAIN SON OF SULEYMAN THE MAGNIFICENT
Abstract
Because of the structure of Turkish Kut (auctoritas) beliefs, all members of Turkish dynasties were candidates for the throne. For this reason there had been a lot of struggles for power. Ottomans maintained the tradition and Mehmed the Conqueror’s code which legalizes killing of all brothers couldn’t end those struggles. At this research we’ll try to explain the throne struggles during the reign of Suleyman the Magnificent. We will espacially focus on the unsuccesful revolt of Bayezid, whom was escaped to Iran and slaughtered with his sons afterwards
