This study has
aimed at determine the effect of growth conditions, steaming, drying
temperatures, number of layers and type of adhesives on the mechanical
properties (bending strength and modulus of elasticity) of plywoods produced
from the Spruce. Five and seven-layer plywoods were prepared by using thin veneers
of Spruce (Picea orientalisL.) which
were taken from the Eastern Black Sea region in the Rize (Çayeli/Çürükbel) and
Trabzon (Maçka/Kapıköy) with phenol-formaldehyde and melamine-urea-formaldehyde
were determined. According to the experimental
results, the bending strength of 5-layer
plywoods produced from Spruce (Maçka) treated with phenol-formadehyde adhesives
is the highest for the sampless teamed for 6h at a drying temperature of 110 oC. Furthermore, the modulus of elasticity of 7-layer plywoods produced
from Spruce (Maçka) treated with phenol-formadehyde adhesive is the highest for
the sampless teamed for 12h and subjected to a drying temperature of 110 oC.
