The strength tests of cement are employed on cement-sand mortar prescribed proportions and made with specified materials under controlled conditions. In Turkey, Rilem Chemberau Method which are given the details in Turkish Standard for Physical and Mechanical Testing Method of Cement (TS 24), the mortar mixture are cast prismatic molds and at first, the flexural strength test and then compressive strength test are employed on test specimens. However in the last revision of Turkish Standards tensile strength values are not required for some cement types, to obtain the test samples for compressive strength, the flexural strength are employed on prismatic specimens. In American Standard of Testing Material (ASTM C 109) the compressive strength test are employed directly using 5 cm cube specimens. In this research cube and prismatic specimens were prepared according to TS 24 and also ASTM C109 and a comparative study of this two methods is presented for determining of compressive strength of portland cement.
