Determination of the Relationships Between Some Periodic Live Weights and Carcass Measurements in Young Eastern Anatolian Red Bulls by Canonical Correlation Analysis

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the multivariate relationships between the different live weights (birth weight (BW), weaning weight (WW), weight at twenty months of age (TMW)) and selected carcass measurements (carcass length (CL), rump length (RL), rump width (RW)) of young Eastern Anatolian Red (EAR) cattle. Data from 17 young male Eastern Anatolian Red cattle registered at the Eastern Anatolian Agricultural Research Institute were used. The correlations between the traits based on live weight (prediction set, U) and the traits based on carcass measurements (criterion set, V) were evaluated. Canonical correlation analysis was used to evaluate the data sets and determine the correlation between them. The first of the three pairs of canonical dimensions (U1V1) was statistically significant (P<0,01; 0,289). The standardized canonical coefficients showed that WW and TMW were more effective in determining U1 than the other traits (0,986 and 0,845, respectively). Canonical loadings showed that WW and TMW were more effective at determining U1 (0,998 and 0,999, respectively), while CL and RL were more effective at V1 than the other traits (0,448 and 0,287, respectively). Cross-loadings showed that WW and TMW were more effective in determining U1 than the other trait. In terms of variation rate, mostly similar values were found between the variable sets. In conclusion, the size of the scale of the relationship between the different periods of live weight and carcass measurements was found to be very important in accelerating profitable production and reducing the generation interval.

Doğu Anadolu Kırmızısı Genç Boğalarda Bazı Dönemsel Canlı Ağırlıklar ve Karkas Ölçüleri Arasındaki İlişkinin Kanonik Korelasyon Analizi ile Belirlenmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, Doğu Anadolu Kırmızısı (DAK) genç sığırlara ait farklı dönem canlı ağırlıklar (doğum ağırlığı (DA), sütten kesim ağırlığı (SKA), yirmi aylık yaş ağırlığı (YAA)) ve seçilmiş karkas ölçüleri değerleri (karkas uzunluğu (KU), but uzunluğu (BU), but genişliği (BG)) arasındaki çok değişkenli ilişkilerin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Doğu Anadolu Tarımsal Araştırma Enstitüsü'nde kayıtlı 17 baş Doğu Anadolu Kırmızısı erkek genç sığırın verileri kullanılmıştır. Hayvanlarda canlı ağırlığa dayalı özellikler (Prediction set, U) ve karkas ölçülerine dayalı özellikler (Criterion set, V) arasındaki korelasyonlar değerlendirilmiştir. Ele alınan veri setlerinin değerlendirilmesi ve aralarındaki korelasyonu belirlemek için kanonik korelasyon analizi uygulanmıştır. Üç çift kanonik boyuttan ilki (U1V1) istatistiksel olarak anlamlıydı (P<0,01). Standardize edilmiş kanonik katsayılar, SKA ve YAA'nin U1 belirlemesinde diğer özellikten daha etkili olduğunu gözlemlendi. Kanonik yük, SKA, YAA'nın U1 belirlemesinde daha etkili olduğunu, KU ve BG'nin ise V1'de diğer özellikden daha etkili olduğu tespit edildi. Çapraz yüklemeler, SKA ve YAA'nın U1 belirlemesinde diğer özellikden daha etkili olduğunu gösterdi. Çoğunlukla, varyasyon oranı açısından değişken setleri arasında benzer değerler bulundu. Sonuç olarak, farklı dönem canlı ağırlık ve karkas ölçüleri arasındaki ilişkinin ölçeğinin boyutu, rantable üretimi hızlandırmak ve nesil aralığını azaltmak için çok önemli olarak belirlendi.
