Abstract
Due to environmental pollution, unplanned urbanization, excessive and uncontrolled consumption, global warming and pandemics, the world we live in is gradually moving away from being a liveable place. The continuation of biological life in the world depends on the improvement of environmental awareness in individuals. One of the important phenomena that develops environmental awareness in individuals is religion. There are some teachings in the heavenly and worldly religions that regulate the relationship of human beings with the environment. In this study, the relationship between environmental awareness and some demographic variables and devoutness were examined. Environmental Awareness Scale and Ok-Religious Attitude Scale were used as measurement tools in the research. Correlation, t-test, one-way anova and regression analysis processes were applied in the analysis of the data. As a result of the analysis, statistically significant relationships were found between age, gender, marital status and occupation, religious attitude and environmental awareness. Regarding the main problem of the research, positive and significant relationships were found between religious attitude and environmental awareness.
