İsti’âze
Abstract
İsti’aze is one of the tajweed subjects. The 98th verse of Surah An- Nahl orders istiaze before beginning to read the Quran. Many scholars consider istiaze as mustehab which is compulsory and means to seek refuge in Allah from every thing which are troubling for people, and ask Allah for help. The Prophet Muhammad said “eûzübillâhimine’ş-şeytânirracîm” before beginning to read the Quran and recommended his companions to do so. The form of istiaze is “eûzübillâhimine’ş-şeytânirracîm”, which the scholars accept. When istiaze is read with basmala in the beginning and in the middle of the suras, some recitation forms appear.
