The Tombstones In The Hazire Of The Ridvan Pasha Mosque In Çarşamba In Samsun-I (The Ones With Celî Ta’lîk Inscriptions)

Abstract

Rıdvan Pasha Mosque is on the eastern side of The Green River in the centre of Çarşamba. At first in 1781 the mosque was built of wood by Rıdvan Bey from Erbaa. Later it was reconstructed from ashlars in 1956, as of a single dome on square walls. There is a ha-zire which covers a rectangular field in front of the area for late comers (son cemaat yeri) with five arches. There is 52 graves in the hazire. While some of them have important gravestones in point of the history of art, the others are of simple concrete basins. Most of the gravestones have inscriptions. Eighteen of them are of celî ta’lîk style and approximately dated in nineteenth century. With regard to the ornamentation and arrangements these gravestones show the specialities of their periods. In the other words all of the adornments but the inscriptions have late period western effects.

Samsun-Çarşamba Rıdvan Paşa Camii Haziresindeki Mezar Taşları-I (Celî Ta’lîk Kitabeli Olanlar)

Abstract

Rıdvan Paşa Camii Çarşamba’nın merkezinde, Yeşilırmağın doğu kenarında bulunmaktadır. İlk olarak 1781 yılında Erbaalı Rıdvan Bey tarafından ahşaptan yaptırılan eser, sonradan kare plan üzeri-ne tek kubbeli olarak kesme taştan yeniden inşa edilmiştir. Cami-nin kuzeyinde beş kemer gözlü son cemaat mahallinin önünde eni-ne dikdörtgen bir alanı kaplayan hazire bulunmaktadır. Hazirede 52 mezar mevcuttur. Bunların bir kısmı sanat tarihi açısından önemli mezar taşlarına sahip iken diğerleri sadece beton havuzlu-dur. Mezar taşlarının çoğu kitabelidir. Kitabelerin 18 tanesi celî ta’lîk hatla yazılmıştır. Yaklaşık olarak tamamı XIX. yüzyıla ait olan bu 18 mezar taşı gerek kompozisyon gerekse süsleme anlayışı açısından dönemlerinin özelliklerini sergilemektedirler. Bir başka ifadeyle yazı dışındaki diğer bütün bezemeler son dönem Batılı etkiler taşır.
