The Effect of Early Season Preparation Training on Testosterone Levels in Professional Athletes

Abstract

The pre-season preparation period for football players is usually a period when they are subjected to intensive training programs to increase their physical fitness levels, improve their endurance and peak their performance. In this context, the aim of the study is to determine the effect of pre-season training sessions on testosterone levels in professional male football players. A total of 16 football players with an average age of 25.30±7.22 (years) who played professional football in the TFF 2. Ligue in the research. In the research, 8-week preparation training was applied to the football players before the competition period. Testosterone values were analyzed from hormonal parameters before and after the workouts. The dependent sample t-test (Paired Samples T-Test) was performed to compare the pre-test and post-test testosterone levels of football players. As a result, it was found that there was a statistically significant increase between the pre-test testosterone levels of the athletes during the pre-season preparation period and the post-test testosterone levels (t=-2.497; p=0.025). According to the results we obtained from our study, it has been seen that the training program applied increases the testosterone levels of athletes.

Profesyonel Erkek Futbolcularda Sezon Başı Hazırlık Süreci Antrenmanlarının Testosteron Seviyesi Üzerine Etkisi

Abstract

Futbolcuların sezon başı hazırlık dönemi, genellikle fiziksel kondisyon düzeylerini arttırmak, dayanıklılıklarını geliştirmek ve performanslarını zirveye çıkarmak için yoğun antrenman programlarına tabi tutuldukları bir dönemdir. Bu bağlamda çalışmanın amacı, profesyonel erkek futbolcularda sezon başı hazırlık süreci antrenmanlarının testosteron seviyeleri üzerine etkisini belirlemektir. Araştırmaya, TFF 2. Liginde profesyonel futbol oynayan, yaş ortalamaları 25,30±7,22 (yıl) olan toplam 16 futbolcu dahil edilmiştir. Araştırmada futbolculara müsabaka dönemi öncesinde 8 haftalık hazırlık antrenmanı uygulanmıştır. Antrenmanların öncesinde ve sonrasında hormonal parametrelerden testosteron değerleri analiz edilmiştir. Futbolcuların ön test ve son test testosteron düzeylerini karşılaştırmak için bağımlı örneklem t testi (Paired Samples t-Test) yapılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, sporcuların sezon öncesi hazırlık dönemi ön test testosteron seviyeleri ile son test testosteron seviyeleri arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir artış olduğu tespit edilmiştir (t=-2,497; p=0,025). Çalışmamızdan elde ettiğimiz sonuçlara göre uygulanan antrenman programının sporcuların testosteron seviyelerini artırdığı görülmüştür.
