Investigation of Gifted Student's Psychological Needs in Terms of Some Variables

Abstract

The main purpose of this research that investigating psychological needs of gifted students in terms of some variables. Survey method is used for this research. Participants of this research are selected students who attend Scince and Art Center courses regularly and they have 130 and higher than 130 score from WISC-R test. The study was performed with 362 students in total (230 female and 132 male) who are studying in the term of 2013-2014 education year and 9,10 and 11 class in Science and Art Centers from different cities. To measure psychological needs of gifted students scale of New Psychological Needs Assessment Questionnaire (NNAQ) which is developed by Heckert(2000) and adapted into Turkish by Kesici (2008) is used. Independent sample t-test and one way ANOVAs is used for comparing differences means of scores of highly gifted students from NNAQ scale and to determine where differences come from Tukey test is applied.The results are discussed in the relevant literature
