Communication and cooperation between school and family is an important
element for the continuity of the impact of education on the student. Many
educational activities started at the school are completed in the student's
family and outside the school. School administrations help parents and parents
of the students come together to form a unity to ensure the contribution of
families to the school. School administrations are obliged to regulate the
relations between school and family associations in accordance with the
relevant laws and regulations. In this respect, the aim of the study is to
evaluate the current situation of the family unions, which have a critical
importance in the management and operation of the schools, starting with the
emergence process and the problem areas encountered in practice. The research
was carried out in a screening design and the literature and researches and
legislation, documents and other documents related to the subject were analyzed
after a careful recovery process. First of all, the study examined the
developments that prepare the emergence of the present situation by considering
the formation of the school parent associations from a historical perspective.
Then, the problem areas identified in the functioning of the school parent
associations were discussed and solutions were sought.
